Five years ago, Pratt student Sam Cochran designed an energy-generating system comprised of solar-powered leaves that attach to the side of buildings in the form of ivy. The project received large amounts of interest and later that year Cochran founded the design company SMIT, which stands for Sustainably Minded Integrated Technology..

Mr. Cochran will make a presentation this Saturday at Pratt as part of TEDxBrooklyn, an independently organized event supported by the annual TED Conference.

TEDxBrooklynBuckminster Fuller Institute and the Pratt Institute hosted an information session and party at the Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO to discuss the November 13 event and some of the great initiatives currently underway at Pratt and BFI.
